NYT London 2012 Summer Olympics
Our coverage of the London 2012 Olympics was the most ambitious yet. It featured real-time results across 302 events in 39 different sports disciplines, medal counts, athlete bios, world records broken all alongside our stories, photography and interactives.
This project was challenging in other ways, as well: it was the desk's first foray into entrepreneurial journalism, in that we partnered with Reuters to syndicate content in three different packages. This meant all the results and athlete data had to be localised and translated for display on Brazilian, British, Australian and Chinese media sites around the world.
Oh, and at least according to RWW, we won "the gold medal for the best [Olympics] website" :)
